Facial plastic surgery refers to surgical procedures aimed at enhancing, reconstructing, or repairing the face’s aesthetic appearance or function. It can be divided into two main categories:

Cosmetic Surgery: Procedures designed to enhance the appearance of the face, often for aesthetic reasons. Common cosmetic facial plastic surgeries include:

  • Rhinoplasty (nose reshaping)

  • Facelift (rhytidectomy)

  • Eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)

  • Brow lift

  • Chin or cheek implants

  • Lip augmentation

Reconstructive Surgery: These procedures aim to restore function and appearance, often following trauma, injury, birth defects, or medical conditions. Examples include:

  • Reconstructive rhinoplasty

  • Cleft palate/lip repair

  • Scar revision

  • Reconstructive surgery following cancer (like skin cancer removal)

  • Facial paralysis surgery

Facial plastic surgery may involve both invasive and non-invasive techniques, depending on the individual’s needs and goals.
